Spring is like

Forecast for New York today is sunny and 70, so although I’m two days early for the official start of Spring, I give you this gift to start your week, one of my all-time favorite poems:

Spring is like a perhaps hand
(which comes carefully
out of Nowhere)arranging
a window,into which people look(while
people stare
arranging and changing placing
carefully there a strange
thing and a known thing here)and
changing everything carefully
spring is like a perhaps
Hand in a window
(carefully to
and fro moving New and
Old things,while
people stare carefully
moving a perhaps
fraction of flower here placing
an inch of air there)and
without breaking anything.

  1. I think that was the perfect poem for the perfect day. 🙂

  2. I love e.e. cummings. One of my all-time favorite poets. And spring is my favorite season. Thanks so much for posting this (and for the lovely photo). Enjoy the nice weather in your neck of the woods. We’re trapped between warm air to the east and cold to the west, with a water-laden jet stream barreling down on us. A good day to write about a thunderstorm, methinks. 🙂

  3. And a very happy almost spring to you, too, Linda!

  4. Beautiful words that somehow make me smile…that was so pretty! Nice post : )
