You call yourself a writer?!

It’s been so long since I’ve worked on my own fiction that I can’t remember my main character’s name. It’s been so long since I’ve posted to this blog that I don’t remember why I was a princess. It’s been so long since I’ve read a book that wasn’t still in manuscript form that I’ve forgotten that track changes isn’t part of every reading experience. It’s been so long since I’ve had an original idea. It’s been so long since I’ve typed on a typewriter, written on a yellow lined pad, used whiteout. So how, why, with what amount of braggadocio do I have the cojones to call myself a real writer?

Um… well… I just am.

How about you? Do you ever get stuck? Stalled? Distracted? Waylaid?

  1. Listen to Molly. She’s telling you something important. What would happen if you gave yourself the assignment to spend 15 minutes a day writing? Just 15 minutes? On anything at all, as long as it wasn’t a shopping list or anything work-related? Just 15 minutes every day when you put down and turn off everything else in your life and pretended to be the writer we all know you are? Just wondering.

  2. so “You just am” is a swell reason to continue being you…but you do have to touch bases with your brain / creative brain/ once in a while. I had and art student who asked me once “How come I knew his painting was a boat and his Mom didn’t”?My answer was, there is nothing wrong with your Mom but I see hundreds of paintings each week and she doesn’t” You need to exercise that part that will stimulate creative thinking. When I pass a bake shop I drool automatically/ that is the Foodie part of my brain (I have a lot of practice there too.) What I am saying is to “tickle” that part of your brain that needs to be encouraged to remember the storyline/ A trigger, an image a vision of your book in the book shop. I KNOW YOU CAN ♥♥MOLLY
